Roy Clinton Hollis, 92, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family in his home, on Thursday, August 10, 2017. He was born on May 30, 1925 in Otwell, Indiana in Pike County to Orville Owen and Maude (Abbott) Hollis and was raised in the Burr Oak Community. He eloped and married his sweetheart, Dorothy J. (Chamberlain) Hollis on June 11, 1948 in Piggott, Arkansas.

Roy was a US Army WWII veteran, serving his country from 1944-1946. He was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Army Occupation Medal (Japan). Roy is entered into the WWII Memorial Registry of Remembrances, in Washington, DC, for participating in WWII and helping our nation win the greatest military victory in history. He was a member of the Odon Christian Church, VFW Post #9627 and Odon American Legion Post #293. Roy was a licensed ham radio operator and lifelong farmer until he retired in 1996. He loved gardening, was an avid computer enthusiast and kept in touch with family and friends worldwide via social media and ham radio.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy Hollis of Odon; one son, Gary Kent Hollis of Elnora; two daughters, Linda Kaye Stites and Vicki Lynn (Robert Leon) Wise, both of Odon; eleven grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Roy was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Paul D. Hollis and son-in-law, Carl W. Stites.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, August 14, 2017 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Roy will be laid to rest in Elnora Fairview Cemetery following military graveside rites by the Army Honor Guard and the Odon VFW Post #9627.

Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 13 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Monday, at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
