Warren D. Porter

Warren D. Porter, 79, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Monday, August 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Martin County, Indiana to Henry Fay and Myrtle (Sipes) Porter. He married his loving wife, Anna Ruth (Kail) Porter on June 30, 1962.

Warren was a US Air Force veteran and a member of the Kentucky Ridge Baptist Church in Bloomfield. He was a retired heavy equipment operator. Warren was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include: his wife, Anna Ruth Porter of Odon; three sons, Jeff (Alycia) Porter of Greensboro, NC, Tom (Wanita) Porter of Dubuque, IA, Dr. Bryan (Ginger) Porter of Odon; grandchildren, Craig Porter, Bethany Porter, Caleb (Kara) Porter, Nathan (Katherine) Porter, Philip Porter, Ian Porter, Emily Porter, Wes (Jamie) Porter and Shane Porter; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gene (Wilma) Porter of Louisville, KY and Dean (Sue) Porter of Odon.

Warren was preceded in death by: his parents; a granddaughter, Samantha Porter; brother, Fred Porter; sisters, Betty Aishe and Bonnie Bell Porter.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Erin Raper officiating. Warren will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon following military graveside rites by the VFW Post #9627, American Legion Post #293 and the Air Force Honor Guard.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, September 1 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hearts Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
