Myron B. Raney, 73, of Plainville, Indiana, passed from this life, on Saturday, March 16, 2024, in Loogootee, Indiana. He was born on June 20, 1950, in Daviess County, IN to Robert L. and Wilma (Boyd) Raney.
Myron was educated in the Washington Community Schools. After high-school, Myron served in the United States Navy as a steelworker and served a tour in the Caribbean. He also served in the Navy Reserve after his active duty.
After his military service, Myron lived and worked in Arizona. He eventually came back to Daviess County to live and work. Some of Myron’s employment included groundskeeping at the Country Oaks golf course and taxiing people in the community.
Myron enjoyed taking care of his cats, camping, fishing, drinking coffee, and eating Mexican food. Most of all, Myron was a survival enthusiast and dreamed of living in the backwoods someday.
Myron was a Christian who had placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ. He was also a recent participant in a local home Bible study.
Myron was an only child and was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by Teresa Cox and many friends who loved and appreciated him.
Funeral services to honor the life of Myron will be at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Parsons Event Center, 4139 N. 700 East, Montgomery, Indiana, with Rodney Wittmer and Gaven Wilson officiating. Myron will be laid to rest in Friendship Cemetery following military graveside rites presented by the Odon VFW Post #9627 and the Navy Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call from 3:00 PM until the time of service at 5:30 PM on Wednesday at the Parsons Event Center.
