Virginia M. (Hillenburg) Atchley

Virginia M. Atchley, 91, of Odon, Indiana, passed from this life to Heaven, at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was born on February 1, 1933 in Bloomington, Indiana to Gilbert and Mabel (Axion) Hillenburg. Virginia married Clifton Bell and after his passing, she married Ernest Atchley, Jr.

Virginia attended Odon United Methodist Church. She worked at Sarkes Tarzien for 27 years and then Ketcham Memorial Center for 24 years.

Family left to cherish the memory of Virginia include: two daughters, Laudonna Jones of Franklin and Vickie (Tim) Scott of Odon; one son, Danny (Linda) Deckard of Evansville; step-children, Sharon (Wayne) Davis and Debbie (Leroy) Streepy, both of Odon, Peggy (Darrell) Womack of Lawrenceville, IL, Shirley Hess of Bedford and Shelby (Patty) Atchley, of Odon; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; fifteen step-grandchildren; twenty-six step-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Hillenburg of Springville; three sisters, Joanne Haywood, Diane Hillenburg and Jeanette Patton, all of Bloomington.

Virginia was preceded in death by: her parents; her two husbands; two step-children, Steve Atchley and Brenda (Atchley) Cornelius; one grandchild, Jason Scott; three step-grandchildren; son-in-law, Michael Jones; sister, Harriett; four brothers, Phillip, Keith, Harry and Robert.

Funeral services to honor the life of Virginia will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with John Windel officiating. Virginia will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ketcham Memorial Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
