Dorothy J. (Chamberlain) Hollis

Dorothy J. Hollis, 89, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at her residence. She was born on February 14, 1930 in Petersburg, Indiana to Charles F. and Emma D. (Crow) Chamberlain. Dorothy married Roy C. Hollis on June 11, 1948. 

Dorothy was a member of Petersburg Methodist Church and attended the Mud Pike Church of Elnora. She was a homemaker and a cosmetologist. She owned the Magic Comb for over 25 years, was co-owner of Hey Lady Fashions in Odon and was the former owner of The Petersburg Café.

Family left to cherish the memory of Dorothy includes: one son, Gary Kent Hollis; two daughters, Linda K. Stites and Vicki Lynn (Robert Leon) Wise, all of Odon; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Herman (Jane) Chamberlain of Bloomington.

Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Roy C. Hollis; brothers, John, Dan, William and Richard Chamberlain; one sister, Iva Hardwick and son-in-law, Carl W. Stites.

A funeral service honoring Dorothy’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Elnora Fairview Cemetery in Elnora.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 16 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home.
