Frances Jean (Gilman) Beard

Frances Jean Beard, 96, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, September, 3, 2018 in Washington, Indiana. She was born in Goodland, Indiana on November 8, 1921 to William and Mable (Kassabuam) Gilman. Frances was the wife of Robert T. Beard.

Frances retired as a secretary for the Peter Paul Candy Company. She also worked at Frankfort and Washington Walmart. Frances was a member of the Eastern Star at Frankfort.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Robert F. (Jane Ann) Beard and two granddaughters, Stephne Beard and Stacey Beard (fiance’, Chance Berry), all of Odon.

Frances was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Robert T. Beard; sisters, Helen Garvin and Bethel Macallister; brothers, Keith Gilman and Jackie Gilman.

Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 PM on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Ashley Shurtz officiating. Frances will be laid to rest at 11:30 AM in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort, Indiana on Friday, September 7.

Family and friends may call from 3:00 PM until time of service at 7:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

The Beard family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association in memory of Frances. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
