Norma J. (Pruett) Walls

Norma Jean Walls, 80, Washington, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Prairie Village Nursing Home. She was born in Raglesville, Indiana on July 27, 1937 and was the daughter of Carl and Halcie (Chestnut) Pruett. Norma was married to Maurice ‘Luke’ Miller on May 17, 1953 in Raglesville by Bessie Frady. She married Clifford Walls on November 6, 2003.

Norma and Maurice joined the Hoosier Playboys Band in 1972, and she was the band’s lead singer. They owned and operated the Opera House in Loogootee from 1976-1988 and were the last to run the Raglesville Store, before it was turned into a house. Norma worked at RCA and retired after 30 years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, making scrubbies, playing euchre and the slots. Last year for her 80th birthday, she was surprised with a party at the Raglesville Park. The Bunkum Valley Boys performed, and she joined them on stage and sang Rocky Top. Norma truly enjoyed that day and loved visiting with her friends and family.

Surviving are: her son, Jim Miller of Washington; daughter, Ginny Lou Green of Gulf Shores, Alabama; grandchildren, Nancy (Cliff) Armstrong, Susan (Clint) Ramsey, Joby Wells, Dylan Miller, Keyah Miller, Tessie Miller, Nettie Miller, and Hallie Miller. She also leaves behind 12 great grandchildren with one on the way.

Norma is preceded in death by: her parents; siblings Virginia Beasley, Ives Pruett, Nancy Parsons and Sue Chestnut; husbands, Maurice Miller (January 2000) and Clifford Walls (November 2010); infant son, David and daughter, Linda Nichols.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Jerod Chattin officiating. Norma will be laid to rest in Raglesville Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 12 at the funeral home.
