Early Thursday morning, Ruth Ann Byrer, 77, passed away surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children: Deborah, Rebekah, and David; her grandchildren: Marceline, Daniel, Isaac, and Caleb; great grandchild, Jaxon; and her brother, Ralph Reeves of Indianapolis.
During her high school years, Ruth came to know The Lord Jesus as her savior and attended Central Christian Bible College in St. Louis, Missouri. She had a great desire to serve the Lord as a missionary but fell in love with and married Joseph D. Byrer of Odon, IN.
Her 3 children became her mission field, and she instilled her faith in them who also have made Jesus their savior. Most of her energies were used up in taking care of her eldest child who has severe disabilities, but she always made sure to give attention to her able-bodied children.
Ruth was born in Greenfield, IN to Walter Ward Reeves and Geneva June Welter Reeves. She first lived in Greenfield but moved to Indianapolis for most of her childhood. She and her husband moved the family to Glassboro, NJ for his work, where she has lived for most of her life. Every year when the Indianapolis 500 was held she always watched the broadcast and reminisced about her life back home in Indianapolis. Her favorite bible verse was Ephesians 6:11 "Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil'.
