Vera Jean (Sterling) Hochstetler

Vera Jean Hochstetler, 91, of Odon, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at her residence. She was born on August 14, 1926 in Odon, Indiana to Carl Oscar and Myrtle Edith (Hunter) Sterling. She married Roy Harlan Hochstetler on June 4th, 1950.

Jean was a member of the Second Mt. Olive Church, UCT Council #851 and Odon Rebekah Lodge 319. She also volunteered at the Elnora and North Daviess Elementary Libraries from 2001 to 2017. She was employed as a mail room supervisor at NAD Crane until her retirement in 1982.

Survivors include: two sons, James E. (Laurel) Hochstetler of Wonder Lake, IL; John L. (Virginia) Hochstetler of Westminster, Maryland; daughter Marilyn Sue Dart of Odon; five grandchildren; Christian Dart, Joel (Kathryn) Dart, Katrina (Joe) Hausfeld, Alex (Efrat) Hochstetler, Michael Hochstetler, two great-grandchildren; Ruby Jean Dart and Angus Russell Dart.

Jean was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Roy Hochstetler, brothers, C.O. (Cap) Sterling, Harold Sterling, sister, Evelyn Sterling and son-in-law Russell Dart.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 29th, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Second Mt. Olive Church cemetery in Odon, IN.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, May 28th, 2018 and from 9:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
