Arley L. Arthur, 85, of Odon, Indiana, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at Washington, Indiana. He was born on October 18, 1932 in Daviess County, Indiana to Harry and Lula (Ray) Arthur. He married Carolyn (Chambers) Arthur on October 18, 1985.
Arley was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He was a member of the Bicknell French Club, Odon VFW Post #9627, Washington American Legion, Eagles in Washington and The Odd Fellows in Odon. Arley had been employed at McCord's, Custom Farm Service and Crane.
Survivors include: three sons, Larry Johnson of Bruceville, Ernest Arthur and Ricky Arthur, both of Odon; two daughters, Rita (Jimmy) Ervin and Brenda Arthur, both of Odon; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank (Leona) Arthur of Tennyson, John (Julie) Arthur of Bloomington and Ronnie (Sally) Arthur of Monroe City.
Arley was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Carolyn Arthur; brothers, Riley 'Gene' Arthur, George Arthur and Harry Arthur, Jr.; sisters, Viola Shepard, Wanita Carrie and Nellie Bogard; granddaughter, Jessica Harris and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Bicknell First Baptist Church with Rev. Seth Alexander officiating. Arley will be laid to rest in Bicknell Memorial Cemetery following military graveside rites by Odon VFW Post #9627.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 12 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Richard M. Fairbanks Burn Center at Eskenazi Health in Indianapolis. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
