Berniece Phegley, 84, of Linton, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Glenburn Home in Linton. She was born in Sullivan, Indiana, on July 23, 1940, to G. Frank and Cora (Sligar) Kendall. Berniece married her loving husband, John W. Phegley, on October 17, 1959.

Berniece was a wonderful homemaker and loving mother.  She was of the Baptist Faith. Berniece enjoyed gardening, but most of all, she loved spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.

Family who will cherish memories of Berniece include: three sons, Steve Phegley, Tim Phegley (Dick Brown), and Jerry (Jill) Phegley, all of Linton; three daughters, Jonah (Duane) Collenbaugh of Dugger, Jenny Landis of Linton, and Cindy Todd of Trafalgar; grandchildren, Jarod (Samantha) Collenbaugh of Coal City, Devin Collenbaugh of Dugger, Abbie (Chris) Miller of Anderson, Alexis (Jonathan) Burton of Columbus, Stephanie Phegley, Keshia Buskirk of Terre Haute, Zachary (Hunter) Phegley, Zoie (Brady) Smith and Austin Landis, all of Linton; and great-grandchildren, Azaia Felker. Jimmie K. Wright, E'rie Buskirk, Draven Buskirk, Beckham Phegley, Harper, Bayne and Octavia Collenbaugh, Oliver, Tucker and Cooper Miller, and Remi Burton.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Berniece was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters; husband, John Phegley; son, Roger Phegley; grandson, Ryan Phegley.

Funeral services to honor Berniece's life will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Jeff Fulk officiating. Berniece will be laid to rest in Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the hour of service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the funeral home.
