Bert A. Astleford, 88, of Martinsville, Indiana, formerly of Linton, passed away on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Grand Valley Health and Rehab in Martinsville. He was born on June 10, 1937 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Lile Densmore and Regina Louise (Brown) Astleford.
Bert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a retired Electrical Engineer from Crane Naval Base. Bert's favorite hobbies were the computer and Amateur radio. For many years, he was W8VEO and W9KWW. Most recently, he developed a love of taking pictures and labeling them with dates and other information.
Bert loved the quiet of the country, the sound of the whippoorwill and the hoot of an owl, wildflowers and fall foliage.
Family left to cherish the memories of Bert include: his wife, Annie L. (Powell) Astleford; four sons, James (Trish) Astleford of Sandborn, Terry (Lois) Astleford of Linton, Bret (Mary Ann) Astleford of San Antonio, TX and Bert (Valerie) Astleford of Crawfordsville; step-sons, Jon Bower of New York and Fred (Cindy) Bower of Martinsville; step-daughters, Peggy (Tim) Lester of Evansville, Susan (Doug) Perry, Cathy Finley, both of Martinsville and Andrea Newberry of Washington; sister, Mable Denniston of Hastings, MI; sister-in-law, Cathy Astleford of Michigan; first wife, Nancy (Snyder) Astleford; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bert was preceded in death by: his parents; second wife, Thieanna (Massey) Astleford and brother, Dan Astleford.
Military honors for Bert will be presented by American Legion Post #22 at 1:00 PM, followed by funeral services on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Bishop Mike Drysdale officiating. Bert will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
