Eva Elizabeth 'Betty' Callahan, 90, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Poplar Care Strategies in Loogootee, Indiana. She was born on July 21, 1935 in Loogootee to Frederick and Flora Catherine (Jones) Ziegler. Betty married the love of her life, Richard Eugene Callahan on May 5, 1957.

Betty was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church. She was a homemaker and loved to make homemade bread and noodles. She also loved sewing and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Family left to cherish the memories of Betty include: two sons, Randy Callahan and David Callahan, both of Odon; one daughter, Roberta (Mark) Richey of Elnora; eight grandchildren, Melissa Cochrane, Jennifer Cochrane, Andy Cochrane, Jimmy Freed, Sara (Scott) Egloff, Marissa (Vince) Cullison, Demi Archer and Deion Archer; four great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Dave Freed of Odon and Roger Cochrane of Bloomfield; one brother, George (Ruth Ann) Ziegler of Loogootee and one sister, Margaret Gregory of Brownstown.

Betty was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Richard Callahan; daughters, Vivian Cochrane, Vera Freed and Rachel Archer; brothers, Martin Ziegler, Hinzie Ziegler and Roy Ziegler.

Funeral services to honor the life of Betty will be at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Bart Newton officiating. Betty will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12 Noon on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
