Bill N. Thompson, 74, of Odon, IN, passed away from this life on Friday, November 24, 2023, at his residence in Odon. He was born in Washington, IN, on April 22, 1949, to James R and Marcella June (Kendall) Thompson. On November 12, 1994, he married Kathy J. (Tharp).
Bill served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He also served in the Army National Guard and later became an auto and heavy equipment mechanic. His last employment was at Crane, where he retired in 2015. Bill truly enjoyed war history and tinkering with clocks. He was enthusiastic about anything mechanical.
Surviving family members who share Bill's memories include his wife, Kathy; children, Jeremy Thompson of Odon, Angela (Jason) Breeden of Bloomington, John (Nikki) Thompson of Washington, Lori (Rob) Phelps of Greensburg, Stacy (Joey) Hollis of Franklin, Jason (Jessica) Guy of Greenwood and Andrea Hollis of Odon; sixteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, James (Ellen) Thompson of Odon.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Sue Mitchell.
There will be no funeral service as the family abides by Bill's wishes for cremation.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Odon Lions Club, 103 Lake Drive, Odon. Military honors will be presented at 4:00 PM followed by an informal visitation until 7:00 PM.
The family requests that you please come at your convenience to help honor and celebrate the life of Bill by sharing a funny story, favorite memory, and some light snacks with them.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ketcham Nursing Home and Heart to Heart Hospice.
