Obituary

Charles 'Bill' Burress, 88, of Linton, Indiana, passed away on December 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born on November 1, 1936, in Linton, Indiana to Hubert and Katherine (Gibson) Burress. He married the love of his life, Alice F. (Richardson) Burress on October 19, 1957.


Bill worked for the Linton Police Department for 25 years, serving as the Police Chief for 8 years. After his retirement, he went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 19 years. Bill was a member of the Linton FOP Chapter #105. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his guitar, fishing, and playing golf.


Family members to cherish the memories of Bill include: his wife, Alice Burress; son, Greg (Teressa) Burress; daughters, Angela (Daryn) Lewellyn and Melissa (Kevin) Reed; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of Linton.


Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Burress.


Funeral services to honor the life of Bill will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.


Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton.
