Charles E. Thomas, 83, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. Born in Frankfort, Kentucky on February 25, 1924, he was the son of Anthony W. and Bessie (Spears) Thomas. Charles married Anna L. Smith on July 5, 1974. He was a 31 year veteran of the US Navy and he served in WWII, Asiatic Pacific, Korean War, and Vietnam. He also retired from J & L Steel as a certified Electrician.
Survivors include his wife; Anna L. Thomas, five sons; William (Candi) Thomas of Linton, Glen (Darla) Damron of Linton, Tim (Renee) Damron of Linton, Jeff (Jennifer) Damron of Jasonville, Roger Damron of Linton, two daughters; Brenda (Todd) Bennett of Linton and Pam (Ron) Trent of Whiting, and thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by Brother; Bob Thomas of Virginia Beach, Virginia, two sisters; Helen Tremboli of Huntington, West Virginia and Beulah Napier of Wayne, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Frances Livings and Billie Jewell Thomas, and two brothers; Danny R. Thomas and Harold Thomas
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2007 and on Saturday, March 31, 2007 from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. Funeral services will be held at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Saturday, March 31, 2007 with Dr. Gene Riker officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, Indiana with Graveside Military Rites by the American Legion Post #22.
