David Ray Miller, of Loogootee, Indiana, went peacefully to be with Jesus on March 7, 2026, at 2:00 in the afternoon, surrounded by his family, at the age of 79 years, 7 months, and 17 days. He was born in Kalona, Iowa, on July 18, 1946, to Jesse O. and Mary M. (Garber) Miller.

Also surviving are 9 dearly loved grandchildren: Caleb, Kendra, Abigail, Adrian, Oseas, Alex, Kierra, Kaisen, and Joseph. His 4 sisters and their husbands survive him: Betty (Robert) Stutzman, Nancy (David) Stutzman, Judy (Daniel) Stutzman, and Rosy (Jason) Bontrager.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and a baby sister, Kathy.
He attended several country schools in rural Iowa and completed a high school course at home. He loved the Lord and was baptized as a young man. He read his Bible daily and especially loved the book of Isaiah. He was a member of Mount Joy Conservative Church at the time of his death.
David contracted polio at the age of 4 years. In spite of his handicap, he went on to live a full life. At the age of 21, he moved to Goshen, Indiana, where he worked as a sewing machine mechanic for many years. He was employed at Starcraft (Topeka), Jayco (Middlebury), and Veada Industries (New Paris). In 2002, he moved to Loogootee, Indiana with his family. He was an avid reader who could retell many details of what he read, to others. He often commented on the sky, moon, and stars, and was fascinated with nature. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with people. He will be greatly missed.
