Obituary

Donald R. Franklin, 63, of Linton passed away Tuesday, December 19th at Greene County General Hospital. Born March 1, 1943, in Linton, Indiana, he was the son of Paul L. and Bonnie M. (Enochs) Franklin. He married Elise A. McCammon on September 10, 1967. Donald served in the US Army. He received the Silver Saber award from the Army National Guard for 27 years of service. Donald later worked at the General Electric Linton Plant where her retired in 1995 and then for Quality Refrigeration for 11 years. He attended the Dugger Church of Christ, he was a member of the Linton BPO Elks #866 where he served in the office of "Tiler" for 9 years, American Legion Post #22 and FOP. Survivors include his wife; Elise A. (McCammon) Franklin, mother; Bonnie M. (Enochs) Franklin, one son; Jeffrey R. (Nichole) Franklin of Linton, one daughter; Julie (Jeff) Smith of Dugger, four grandchildren; Jocelyn Turpin, Janzen Franklin, Jackie Smith, and Jordyn Smith. He is also survived by one sister; Iris (John) Markle, two brothers; Dale (Phyllis) Franklin all of Linton, Indiana, and brother; David (Joan) Franklin of Bloomfield, Indiana. Donald is preceded in death by his father. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM EST on Thursday, December 21, 2006 and from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM EST on Friday, December 22, 2006 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. There will be an Elks Memorial Service conducted Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM EST on Friday, December 22, with Nick Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with full Military Graveside Rites.
