Douglas Wayne Bays, 27, of Crane, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, in Loogootee. He was born on November 26, 1996, in Vincennes, Indiana, raised by Todd and his mother, Dawn M. (Vaughn) Chambers.
Doug was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and had been working at SAIC as an Explosive Tech. His Christian faith was very important to him. Doug enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Aizen (AKA his baby). He loved fishing, motorcycle racing, snow skiing, working out in the gym and being the life of the party.
Family left to cherish the memories of Doug include his mother Dawn, and stepfather, Todd L. Chambers; sister, Brooke (Phillip Archer) Bays of Odon; niece, Skylar; aunts, Deanna (Kent) Gingerich, Durenda (Jason Lindy) Vaughn, Trina (Kurt) Streepy; bonus aunt, JJ (Brian) Arney; maternal grandmother, Carolyn (Rick Chadd) Vaughn; paternal grandfather, Perry Bays; step-grandmother Donna Chambers and Tonia Garcia.
Doug was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Wayne Vaughn; aunt, Carrie Ann Vaughn, maternal great-grandfather, Virgil Vaughn; great-grandmother, Mary Vaughn; step-grandfather, Dale Chambers; great-grandfather, Dwight Bowers; great-grandmother, Doris Bowers-Ainscough.
Funeral services to honor the life of Doug will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Plainville United Methodist Church with Pastor Darrel Weaver and Dennis Cecil officiating. Doug will be laid to rest in Plainville Cemetery. Followed by Military graveside rites by the Odon VFW Post #9627.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 26th at the Plainville United Methodist Church and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Daviess High School Football for uniforms. Envelopes will be available at the church.
