Obituary

Edward E. Borter, DVM, 94, passed away at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon, on September 2, 2026. He was born on February 29, 1932 in Newberry, Indiana to Earl Borter and Golda (Hasler) Borter. Edward married his loving wife of 64 years, Patricia A. Sipes, on June 1, 1962.

Doc was a veteran of the US Navy and served his country in the Korean War. He was a graduate from Purdue University with Biochemistry and DVM degrees. Doc was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church, Elnora Masonic Lodge #616, Crane VFW Post #9297, American Legion Post #245, American Veterinary Medicine, and the Elnora Outdoor Club. He was a Purdue Alumni and truly loved his Boilermakers. He also served on several boards including Ketcham Memorial Center, North Daviess Schools, Daviess County Department of Health as well as the Odon United Methodist Church.

Family left to cherish the memory of Doc include his wife, Patricia Borter; his daughters, Christa (Jeff) Beasley, Tina (Donnie) McCullough; grandchildren, Derek (Kayna) Clidienst, Dustin (Zulmy) McCullough, Andrea (Levi) Kemp, Daniel (Madisyn) Borter, Whitney (Dusty) McKee; and great-grandchildren, Karli, McKynleigh, Milly, Harlynn, Deklan, Lainey, Jase, Camila, Haisley, and Brooks.

Doc was proceeded in death by his parents; son, Scott Edward Borter, DVM; sister, Frankie St. John; and brother, Duane ‘Blackie’ Borter.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 2:00 ~ 4:00 PM on Sunday, September 6 at Odon United Methodist Church with Pastor John Windell and Darrell Arthur officiating. A Masonic Memorial service will start at 4:00 PM followed by the funeral service and continued with Military rites that will be presented by VFW Post #9627 at Walnut Hill Cemetery where Doc will be laid to rest.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Odon United Methodist Church.
