Eric Leslie Freed, 79, of Odon, Indiana, passed away on January 15, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He was born on July 14, 1946, in Washington, Indiana to Eugene and Lorene (Maryfield) Freed. Eric married his wife, Garnet (Beasley) Freed on August 27, 1967. She passed away on January 10, 2020.

Eric was a member of the 2nd Mt. Olive Baptist Church and the Odon Lions Club. He retired as a Draftsman/ Engineering Technician from NSA Crane in 2017. He also taught Industrial Arts at various schools around the area for many years. Eric enjoyed working in his garden and sharing the vegetables with others. He was very proud of his sons and especially proud of his granddaughter and grandson. He was a very giving person and loved to help anyone in need.

Surviving Eric are two sons, Paul (Lori) Freed of Connersville and Ty (Gena) Freed of Plainville; grandson, Rex Freed; granddaughter, Kasey Freed; younger sister, Myra (John) Riggs; five brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; six nieces and six nephews.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Garnet Freed and sister, Sharon Jones.

Funeral services to honor the life of Eric will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Adam Cissell officiating. Eric will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon immediately following.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Odon Lions Club. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
