Freida R. Tarvin, 87, went to Heaven with family by her side, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper. She was born on September 5, 1939, in Crane, Indiana to William ‘Glen’ and Ruby (Smith) Webster. Freida married the love of her life, Carl R. Tarvin, on September 9, 1961.

Freida was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church. She worked for many years as the Odon Elementary Secretary, retiring in 2001. Freida enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking family dinners and outings with family and friends. She especially liked babysitting and spending time with her kids and grandkids. Freida had an acute knowledge of Martin and Daviess County family history.

Family left to cherish the memories of Freida include one daughter, Jennifer (Donnie) Holmes; one son, Tim (Angel) Tarvin; grandchildren, Nicci (Marc) Andrews, Seth (Melissa) Miller, Lane (Miranda) Miller, Lily Tarvin, Madelyn (Matthew) Smallwood, Jeremiah Tarvin; step-grandchildren, Kelly Strange and Lacey Holmes; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and one brother, Max (Mary) Webster.

Freida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl Tarvin; and brother, Francis Webster.

Funeral services to honor the life of Freida will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Brenden Dyer officiating. Freida will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Indiana Creek Baptist Camp, 1770 Avoca Eureka Road, Bedford, IN 47421. Envelopes will also be available at the funeral home.
