Gerald DeVore, 89, of Lyons, Indiana, passed away on March 26, 2026 at 4:56 AM at home, with family by his side. He was born on February 19, 1937 in Swifton, Arkansas to Roe and Bessie (Dunham) DeVore and was raised by Ed and Hannah Hennessee. Gerald married the love of his life, Reavia L. (Savage) DeVore on June 26, 1954.
Gerald was a minister of the Gospel for 63 years, serving 33 years as Pastor at the Lyons Assembly of God where he was a member. He was a bus driver and substitute teacher at WRV Schools, drove a bus for Hancock County Schools for 30 years and also had a Heating and Air Conditioning Company for years in Indianapolis. Gerald retired in November 2025.
Family left to cherish the memory of Gerald include: his wife, Reavia; son, Gerald (Wanda) DeVore, Jr. of Noblesville; daughter, Patricia J. Garland of Lyons; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and sister, Annie Hendrix of Marion, IN.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services to honor the life of Gerald will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Lyons Assembly of God, 610 W. Prairie St., Lyons, with Bro. Stuart Frampton officiating. Gerald will be laid to rest in Prairie Chapel Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 30 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the church.
The family requests that contributions be made to the Gideons in memory of Gerald. Envelopes will be available at the church.
