Gerald R. Sims, Jr., 65, husband of Dana L. Sims, died Thursday, August 22, 2019, at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born April 13, 1954, in Washington, IN, he was the son of Bonnie Grove Haste and the late Gerald R. Sims, Sr.  Mr. Sims was a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church.  He was a Mason and served as Past Master of the Moore Masonic Lodge in Odon, IN.  He was U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War Era.  He retired from the Department of Defense.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years; his mother of Sumter; two children, Auddra Sims Livingston (Michael) of Sumter and Erick D. "Doug" Sims (Jennifer) of Bloomington, IN; grandchildren, Nate Livingston, Corbin Livingston, Rowan Sims, and Harper Sims; a sister, Jana Lee (Pete) of Fredericktown, MO; and a step-brother, Thom Haste (Patricia) of Clayton, IN.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday at Alice Drive Baptist Church with the Rev. Jock Hendricks officiating.

A graveside service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, IN.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday at Alice Drive Baptist Church and from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Meng Family Funeral Home, 616 E. Elnora St., Odon, IN. A Masonic Memorial service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00pm during the visitation.
