Irven Rex Byrer, 88, of Odon, Indiana, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Ketcham Memorial Nursing Home in Odon.  He was born in Daviess County, Indiana on February 20, 1930 to Herschel and Lois (Groves) Byrer. Irven married Loretta K. Chestnut in 1961.

He was a US Army Korean War Veteran, a member of Shiloh Church of God and held membership in the White River Valley Antique Association. Irven worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1979.

Irven is survived by Loretta K. Byrer; his son, Herschel R (Shelia) Byrer of Odon; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren.

Irven was preceded in death by: his parents; one great-grandson, Brian Benton and a sister, Fern Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday July 19, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Ken and Joe Chestnut officiating. Irven will be laid to rest in the Walnut Hill Cemetery following military rites provided by the Odon VFW Post #9627.

Family and friends may call at the Meng Family funeral home from 10:00 AM until time of service on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
