James Darin Padgett, aged 60, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025. James Darin was born at the Daviess County Hospital on April 1, 1965, to his mother, Hallie (McNabb) Padgett, and his father, Orval Lawrence Padgett. To his family and friends, he was usually called by his middle name, Darin.

Darin made his family proud when he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He regularly attended the Church of the Nazarene in Madisonville, Kentucky.

Darin spent just over 35 years working for the General Electric Aerospace and Appliance divisions and was highly skilled in a very technical position. He retired from GE on June 1, 2025, and moved from his home in Madisonville, Kentucky, to Sumter, South Carolina to be with his son and grandson. He was very talented at playing various string and brass instruments and had a desirable collection of them. Darin had a passion for Blue Grass and country music and often went to concerts and shows whenever he could, to hear his all-time favorite artists. He also played in a local blue grass band.

Darin is survived by his son Christopher, daughter Rachel, and grandson James; brothers Stephen and Ricky Padgett, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM for James Darin on the June 26, 2025 at the Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Daniel Bradshaw officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. James Darin will be laid to rest at the St. Joseph Cemetery, Bramble, Indiana.
