Jimmy Franklin
Anderson
Aug 7, 1938 — Oct 8, 2026
Linton, Indiana
Jimmy Franklin Anderson, 88, of Linton, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life with family by his side, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at his home. He was born on August 7, 1938, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas to Arlie J. and Mary L. (Lesley) Anderson. Jimmy married his loving wife of 65 years, Cindy C. (McKim) Anderson on January 26, 1961.
Jim was a US Army veteran. He was a member of the BPO Elks #866, American Legion Post #22, Loyal Order of the Moose #4434 and FOP #105. Jim retired in 2001 with 26 years of service with the Linton Police Department and then 20 years of service with the US Postal Service. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was happiest with a fishing pole in his hand. Above all, he loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and the best papaw ever. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family left to cherish the memory of Jim include his wife, Cindy Anderson; two sons, Jason (Susan) Anderson and Justin (Janelle) Anderson, both of Linton; grandchildren, Cole, Brett, Jordan and Jacob; sisters, Joyce Gentry and Arlene (Kevin) Theroff; and sister-in-law, Nancy Anderson, all of Linton.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Brett Anderson; grandson, Eric Anderson; brothers, Jerry (Margie) Anderson and Paul Anderson; sister, Audrey ‘Terri’ Enochs and brother-in-law, Bill Gentry.
Honoring Jim’s wishes, cremation has been chosen and there will be no services. Jim will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton at a later date.
At the request of the family, memorial contributions may be made to the Eric Michael Anderson Scholarship at Northwest Bank.
Arrangements and care have been entrusted to Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Condolences and memories may be sent to the family online at www.andersonpoindexter.com.
