John A. Osborn, 70, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away with his loving wife by his side, on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Bloomington Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1946 in Daviess County, Indiana to Ernest Roy and Freda (Kale) Osborn. He married Deborah Mattingly on June 18, 1988.

John was a member of the Laborers' Union, Local #561. He was employed as a construction foreman with heavy equipment and worked for Jacobi Seeding and Sodding in Floyds Knobs and Hutson John Deere at Newberry. John liked riding his Harley Trike on vacations. He loved running heavy equipment, the outdoors, hunting mushrooms, deer hunting and fishing.

Survivors include: his wife, Deborah Osborn of Loogootee; his fur babies, Buddy, Fluffy, Deborah K, Tommy, Black Foot, Pretty Boy, Bucky and Calico; three sisters, Joanne Sheetz of Ferdinand, Janice (Jim) Ivey of Dover Hill, IN and Nola Jane (Jim) Osmon of Odon; nephew, Richard (Charla) Ivey of Trinity Springs, IN and niece, Christy Osborn.

John was preceded in death by: his father, Ernie Osborn; his mother, Freda Osborn and nephew, Jason Ivey.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Rev. Adam Cissell officiating. John will be laid to rest in Burns City Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 19 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM on Monday.

The family requests casual dress and in honor of John, please ride your Harley to the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
