Joseph Daniel 'Jody' Smith, 55, of Westphalia, Indiana, entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 22, 2022, at IU Health Bloomington. He was born on August 11, 1967, in Vincennes to William Joseph and Carolyn A. (Pepmeier) Smith.

Jody was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia, IBEW Local Union 1395, and the Freelandville Volunteer Fire Department. He worked as a Senior Wastewater Treatment Specialist at AES Indiana in Petersburg. He enjoyed mowing grass, working on mechanical projects, and was a gun enthusiast.

Family left to cherish the memory of Jody include his mother, Carolyn Smith of Westphalia, son: William Joseph 'Will' (Bethany) Smith of Linton, daughters: Megan Leigh Smith of Switz City, Kathryn Danielle 'Kadye' Moore of Mooresville and one granddaughter, Maddison Moore; sisters: Lynn (Jim) Moore of Westphalia and Andrea (Frank) Spendal of Montezuma.

Jody was preceded in death by his father, William Joseph 'Joe' Smith in 2021.

A time of gathering for family and friends will be 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2022, at Meng Family Funeral Homes, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton. Jody will be laid to rest in Salem Cemetery in Westphalia at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salem United Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
