Obituary

Kelly Joe Wadsworth, 71, of Odon, Indiana, passed from this life, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Lake City, Florida. He was born on September 15, 1954 in Washington, Indiana to Joe and Loretta Mae (Orender) Wadsworth. Kelly married his loving wife, Telesa Ann (Forston) Wadsworth on June 22, 1974.

Kelly was a graduate of North Daviess High School, Class of 1972 and a graduate of the Winter Ag Program at Purdue University. He was a farmer for 50 years, dedicating most of those years to Capehart Farms.

Family left to cherish the memories of Kelly include: his wife, Telesa Wadsworth; son, Kelly ‘Matthew’ (Angela) Wadsworth; daughter, Selena Clifton-Barr; grandchildren, Hunter, Peighton, Declan, Tori and Ty; his mother, Loretta Wadsworth; brothers, David (Glenda) Wadsworth and Doug (Julie) Wadsworth; sister, Myra (George) Allen and brother-in-law, Terry (Leslie) Forston.

Preceding Kelly in death was his father, Robert Joseph Wadsworth; grandparents, Ivan & Hazel Orender and Russell & Floy Wadsworth; in-laws, Betty & Harold Forston and niece, Amy Griffith Spindler.

Kelly shared nearly 52 wonderful years with his beloved wife, Telesa, building a life centered on love, family, and a few good stories along the way. He was proud beyond measure of his children, Matthew, a basketball coach, and Selena, who built a career in law enforcement, and never missed a chance to brag about them.

His grandchildren brought him endless joy and plenty to smile about: Hunter serving in the Marine Corps, Peighton and her love for animals (especially Kevin the goat), Declan, Master Builder of Legos, Tori a beautiful cheerleader, and Ty keeping him glued to the sidelines of every basketball game he could attend.

Kelly learned the value of hard work and a deep appreciation for farming from his mentor, John Shawhan, lessons he carried with him throughout his life. When he wasn’t keeping up with family, he could often be found with his faithful dog Zeppie, riding the side-by-side or enjoying the outdoors. Retirement meant more time camping with dear friends who quickly became family, along with plenty of euchre games—some friendly, some a little more competitive.

A devoted Christian, Kelly’s faith guided him through life, and his family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace with his Heavenly Father. If he could leave one last message to his farming friends, it would likely be simple: may your fields be fruitful, your weather kind, and your harvests always bountiful.

Funeral services to honor the life of Kelly will be at 12:00 Noon on Monday, April 27, 2026 at Plainville Christian Church in Plainville, Indiana with his brothers, Doug and Dave Wadsworth officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 26 and from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 Noon on Monday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Travis Burkhart Foundation, Camp Illiana or Cops N Kids (Daviess County FOP). Envelopes will be available at the church.

Arrangements and care were entrusted to Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon, Indiana. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.mengfuneralhome.com.
