IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda L.
(Porter) Courtney
October 6, 1939 – September 14, 2025
Linda L. Courtney, 85, of Peru, IN, slipped into eternity at 9:00 A.M., on September 14, 2025, her 67th wedding anniversary to her late husband, Bob Courtney. Linda was born in Plainville, IN on October 6, 1939, to Olon and Laverne Porter.
Graduating from Plainville High School, she began a journey with Bob that would take her to many states during his Air Force Career, finally settling once again in Plainville. Upon Bob's retirement in 2009, Bob and Linda moved to Peru. She was a faithful member of McGrawsville Community Church. Linda's legacy is not built on laurels, prestigious awards or an impressive resume. Her legacy will be one of gentle strength (perhaps a little stubbornness), unconditional love, loyalty and a quiet, simple faith in the Lord. Affectionately called the "Baby Whisperer", there was something about Linda that would bring calm to a crying baby. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great pride and delight. She gave of herself sacrificially, always putting others before self. What she instilled in her family by example will carry on for generations to come. She was cherished and will be terribly missed.
Her beloved sister, Leola, passed away on August 22, 2025. Also preceding her in death were sisters Katherine Andreini and Helen Hoopingarner. Her husband, Bob preceded her on July 14, 2024.
Linda is survived by her children, Tanya Cox (Tim) and Michael Courtney (Jennifer). Her grandchildren include Josh Cox (Paula), Matt Cox (Alli), Aaron Cox (Jade), Rebekah Raffa (Gabe), Melanie White (Shad) and Nolan Courtney. Great-grandchildren include Olivia, Reagan, Jolie Cox, Callen and Courson Cox and Cecelia Cox. Linda was eagerly expecting baby Raffa in March.
Viewing will be Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Meng Funeral Home in Odon, IN, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., followed by the service at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor Jason Shemanski officiating. Burial will follow at the Plainville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Promiseland Preschool in Peru. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Local arrangements and care were entrusted to Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.mengfuneralhome.com.
