Mark A. ‘Sluggo’ Barnett, 74, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life with family by his side at his home, on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. He was born on March 31, 1952, in Linton, Indiana to Alfred L. and Merry E. (Harrell) Barnett.

Mark was a member of the Linton Church of Christ, SAL American Legion Post #22 and VFW Post #7118 Auxiliary. He worked in construction as an iron worker and in drafting before retiring in 2013. Mark enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time with his family, friends and always greeted everyone with a smile and welcoming presence.

Family left to cherish the memories of Mark include one daughter, Kerrie Barnett of Bloomfield; grandchildren, Austin T. Barnett-Cunningham and Caylin Chandler; sister, Sheryl Schmelzer of Hudson, OH.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mark will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Bro. Jerry Carmichael officiating. Mark will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
