Martha Jane (Dennis) Vertrees went peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 4, 2016. Born in Dayton, Ohio on July 14, 1924, she lived most of her life in Northwest Indiana, before moving to Fort Myers, Florida in 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Carrol Weaver Vertrees and her beloved granddaughter, Emily Owen. She is survived by her children Jonathan (Mara) Vertrees, Vicki (Dave) Ward, Frederick Vertrees, and Rebecca (Dennis) Owen; five grandchildren- Marisa, Annabelle, Eli, Savannah and Lauren, and four great grandchildren. Martha was active in a variety of church activities and also served her community for many years as a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Martha enjoyed her family's yearly visits to the Elnora area, where her husband Carrol Vertrees was born and raised.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, at Fairview Cemetery in Elnora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, or the Ronald McDonald House.
