Mary E. O'Bannon, 92, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven, surrounded by loved ones, on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Vincennes, Indiana. She was born on September 6, 1925 in Jackson County, Indiana to Mike and Goldie Buttorff. She married John 'Jake' O'Bannon on November 1, 1941.

Mary was a member of the Odon First Christian Church, Newberry Eastern Star and Moose Lodge of Washington. She had been employed at the NSWC Crane Cafeteria and made many friends throughout her life, serving food to the NSWC employees. Mary was a good cook and enjoyed cooking meals for the family. She loved to laugh and dance with her friends.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sandy (Bill) Asdell of Manteno, IL and Cheryl Miller of Odon; grandchildren, Shawn Asdell, Mardel (David) Wojciechowski, John (Michele) Miller, Andrea (Jeffrey) Cardwell and Brooke Ozee. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, John O' Bannon; sister, Lorene Spurgeon, Irene VanWinkle and Geneve Buttorff; son-in-law, Clifton Miller and nephew, Mikie Buttorff.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon. Mary will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:30 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Christian Care. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
