Mary Janice (Freed) Balogh, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She was born on August 9, 1933, in Elnora, Indiana to Fred 'Shorty' and Lula (Darling) Freed. Mary married her late husband Capt. Albert Balogh of the US Navy Reserve in 1974.

Mary worked at the Crane Naval Base as one of the first females in management for several years. She loved dogs, books and tormenting her family with water gun ambushes and "fun" surprises.

Those left to cherish the memories of Mary include, daughter, Shelly Overton of Evansville, grandchildren, Zach (Emily) Overton and Mandy (Evan) Smith; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Smith, Aven Smith, Easton Overton, niece DeDe Allen, nephew, Alan (Phyllis) Banks also several great nieces and nephews. The mother to Kelly's son, Lisa Gray forever family.

Mary was preceded in death by, both of her parents; husband, Albert; her son, Kelly Overton, her brother Russell 'Bud' Freed and her sister Mildred Banks.

There will be no public viewing or services. Mary will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
