Paul Retseck, age 96, of Odon Indiana passed away peacefully at Parkview Christian Care Village on June 24, 2019. He was born on November 24, 1922 in Michigan City, Indiana, the son of Paul and Mary (Zaborek) Retseck. Paul married Cecilia Kintzele on August 28, 1948.

Paul retired in 1982 from a career in marketing with Joy Manufacturing. He served his community as Chief for the Volunteer Fire Department in Long Beach, Indiana. Paul was an Explorer Leader for the Boy Scouts and he also volunteered at the Notre Dame Catholic Church festivals. He enjoyed woodworking and had a passion for painting landscapes. Paul especially loved square dancing and polka dancing.

Family members left behind to cherish Paul's memories include his wife Cecilia Retseck of Odon, Sons: Thomas (Diane) Retseck of Soddy, Tennessee, Jeffery (Michelle) Retseck of Lyons, and George (Beverly) Retseck of Limeport, Pennsylvania. Paul is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters: Helen Lindemann, Dorothy Farrington, and Bernice Brown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Bloomfield with Father Biju Thomas officiating.  Paul will be laid to rest on a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Michigan City.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 27 at Meng Family Funeral Home, 616 East Elnora St., Odon, IN, with a Rosary Prayer Service scheduled for 7:30 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
