Robert Lee Nichols, 78, of Plainville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at his residence. He was born on April 8, 1943 in Washington, Indiana to John Robert and Norma Ruth (Goodwin) Nichols. Bob married Marilyn Diane (Osmon) Nichols on December 9, 1961.

Bob was a member of the Plainville High School Class of 1961. He began his tool and die career at the Plainville Machine and Tool and various other corporations. He worked in a career of management of tool and die at Sabin Corporation/ Cook Medical, retiring in 2010. Those who knew Bob well knew that he was a man of many hobbies. He loved to hunt and fish. Bob loved spending time with his family, finding much joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always had a good story to tell and had a captive audience of friends, young and old, ready to listen.

Family left to cherish the memory of Bob include: two daughters, Regina Stoll of Clarksville, TN and Diana (Benjamin) Harkness of Odon; special friend, Linda Brown of Elnora; grandchildren, Audrey (Caleb) Bullock, Kristen (Jimmy) Mitchell, Chelsea (Bryan) Smith and Drew (Rachel) Harkness; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Oliver, Piper, Briley, Adria, Elliot and Lola; and one sister, Peggy Underwood.

Bob was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Marilyn Nichols; son-in-law, Robert Stoll; brothers, Joe and Danny Nichols.

A memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon. Bob will be laid to rest in Plainville Cemetery at a later date.

There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Village Christian Care in Odon. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
