October 19, 1931 – May 12, 2016
Shirley A. Latimer, 84, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Washington, Indiana. She was born on October 19, 1931, in Daviess County, Indiana to Frank and Anna Mae (Hedden) Melsheimer.
Shirley was a member of the Elnora Christian Church, Rebekah Lodge of Elnora, was a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, and was a past member of the Eastern Star. She worked at RCA as a group leader for 35 years until she retired on November 1, 1986. Shirley enjoyed being at home with her kids and family. She was a wonderful baker and everyone loved her bread. Mom, Grandma, Maw-graw and Aunt Shirley was loved very much by all.
Survivors include: two sons, Gary Lee (Lily) Latimer of Mountain Home, ID and Keven Latimer of Odon; three daughters, A. Cheryl (Terry) Weddle of Odon, R. Carol (Larry) Wampler of Bloomington and Jackie Sue Latimer Archer of North Judson, IN; nine grandchildren, Rachel Ann Moore, Ken Steele, Robin Strange, DeEtt Pershing, Justin Archer, Joshua Archer, Angel Archer, Austin Archer and Dylan Latimer; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Louise Melsheimer Arthur of Elnora; several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents, two grandchildren, Christopher Hill and Dezziree Latimer; four brothers, Charles Melsheimer, Ronald Ketchem, Willard Ketchem and William Elwood Melsheimer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Elnora Christian Church with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Shirley will be laid to rest in the Elnora Fairview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 15 at the Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Elnora Christian Church in memory of Shirley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
