Steven J.
Brinson
February 22, 1946 – August 23, 2021
Steven J. Brinson, 75, of Belleville, Illinois, formerly of Lyons, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully on August 23, 2021. He was born on February 22, 1946 to Richard and Kate Brinson.
After graduating from L & M High School, Steve joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He met the love of his life, Concepcion 'Connie' Alonso, while stationed in Spain. Steve and Connie married in Rota, Spain on March 15, 1970. Steve was the founding Pastor of Lyons Community Church. He was a devoted Pastor and cared deeply for his congregation. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting morel mushrooms and traveling with Connie to spend time with friends and family. Steve worked with the Navy as a civil servant for over 40 years. He spent most of those years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Crane, Indiana before moving to Washington D.C. to complete his career working for the Undersea Defensive Warfare Office and Stanley Associates. After retirement, Steve and Connie moved to Belleville, Illinois to be closer to family.
Left to cherish the memory of Steve includes: his daughter, Africa Bender of Belleville, IL; son, Jose Brinson of Hinckley, IL; six grandchildren, Africa (Michael) McCoy, Adrian (Carrie) Pyle, Joshua, Ryan, Kayla and Jordan Brinson; great-grandson, Abram Pyle; nephews, Justin & Wade Fulford; cousins; very dear friends, Arlene & Kevin Theroff; and second wife, Dorresa.
Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Connie Brinson; his parents, Kate & Richard Brinson; his sister, Eva J. Brinson (Fulford/Chrisman); a grandson, Richard Pyle and son-in-law, Randal Bender.
Visitation will be at the Lyons Community Church from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM, on Saturday, September 4th, 2021. The family kindly request that masks be worn.
Funeral service for family and close friends will immediately follow the visitation. Steve will be laid to rest in the Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn, Indiana.
