Violet N. Chestnut Sims, 86, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in her home, on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born on May 3, 1930 in Daviess County, Indiana to Jackie and Thelma (Rydenbark) Chestnut. Violet was married to Francis Sims.

Violet was a member of the Shiloh Church of God. She was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her home and family.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry Sims of Odon; three daughters, Nancy Bailey and Darla Simmons, both of Odon and Anita Aders of Bristow, IN; fifteen grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Elmo Ramsey of Washington, IN, Gary Ramsey of Winslow, IN, Leo Ramsey of Owensville, IN, Dencil Ramsey of Loogootee, IN and one sister, Janet Chestnut of Odon.

Violet was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Francis Sims; a son, Tommy Sims; two great-granddaughters, Darcy Hurt and Emma Goss and a brother, Jackie Chestnut.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon with Rev. Steve Sims officiating.
