William J. 'Bill' Pickett, 79, of Newberry, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family in Linton, Indiana on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He was born in Greene County, Indiana on December 24, 1936 to Wilson and Louise (Sensney) Pickett. He married his sweetheart, Romona Sue Adams on August 8, 1986.

Bill retired from the US Navy with 29 years of service. He worked at General Electric, owned and operated the Newberry Café, and farmed for several years. Bill also enjoyed mowing yards, camping, working in his garden and riding his Polaris Ranger.

Survivors include: his wife, Sue Pickett of Newberry; two sons, Richard (Kelly) Pickett and Ronald (Melinda) Pickett, both of Linton; two daughters, Yvette (Jeff) Dean of Bloomfield and Marcia Engler of Georgia; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dan Pickett of Lyons, Lanny Pickett of Newberry and Jim Pickett of Crane; two sisters, Hazel Louise King of Indianapolis and Donna Hauser of Linton.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Rex Pickett.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Newberry United Methodist Church with Pastor Fred Haywood officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in the Newberry Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to the Newberry United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
