Beverly Joan (Ritchey) Shadle, 85, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed peacefully from this life, on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 19, 1938 in Tipton, Indiana to Vincent Maurice and Anna Laura (Boling) Ritchey. Joan married Jerry W. Shadle on September 1, 2007.
Joan was a very active member of the Odon United Methodist Church, serving in the Feed My Sheep and Children’s Church ministries. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, UAW and the Shriner’s, taking much joy in being able to donate to such a good cause. Joan worked as an Inspector for Delco/ Remy in Kokomo, retiring with 25 years of service. She was an avid fan of IU Hoosiers and Indiana Pacers Basketball and Indianapolis Colts football. Joan, most of all, loved spending time with her family.
Family left to cherish the memory of Joan include: two sons, Mauri Hunter of Sumner, IL and Rick Hey of Indianapolis; one step-daughter, Christine McFarland of Greenwood; grandchildren, Nicholas Hunter, Brandi (Hunter) Tressler, Sasha Hunter, Blake Hunter, Christopher Hunter, Megan (Hunter) Martinez, Dagmar (Hunter) Bowman, Cheyenne Hunter, Christina (Hey) Brush and Jenna LeTourneau; great-grandchildren, Shayla (Hunter) Ashley, Austin Hunter, Matthew Morgan, Colin Morgan, Abby Morgan, Aubree Hunter, Remee Hunter, Jordan McGill, Jayleigh Martinez, Jaxsyn Baxley, Liliauna Hunter, Raelynn Hunter and Jordan Brush; step-grandchildren, Andrew Shadle, McKynse Shadle and Rylie McFarland; Step-great-grandchild, Hadley Shadle; brother, Donald Lee (Mary) Ritchey; sister, Joyce Schwenk and step-sister, Ginny (Leroy) Shafer.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jerry Hunter; second husband, Robert Hey; third husband, Jerry W. Shadle; son, Douglas Lee Hunter and sister, Cheryle Ritchey.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Odon United Methodist Church with Tim Ahlemeyer officiating. Joan will be laid to rest at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 28 in Albright Cemetery in Kokomo, Indiana.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Odon United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
