George F. Hammer

George F. Hammer, 97, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully, on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Washington, Indiana. He was born in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, on June 3, 1920 to Joseph F. and Jessie G. (Martin) Hammer. He married Mary June (Trueblood) Hammer on August 23, 1947.

George was a US Navy WWII Veteran. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Community Church. George was a retired construction worker from J.L. Wilson.

Survivors include: one daughter, Amy (Allan) Bauernfiend of Huntingburg; one sister, Phyllis Fawbush of Orange County, CA; several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Mary June Hammer; four sisters, Margaret, Barbara, Patsy and Jean.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon. George will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 6 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Community Church in memory of George. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
