George A. Nail

George Alan Nail, 64, of Elnora, Indiana, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, November 6, 2023. He was born in Washington on July 30, 1959 to James and Violet M. (Wilkey) Nail. George was raised in Elnora, Indiana.

George was a member of the Odon VFW Post Auxiliary #9627 and the Elnora Sons of the American Legion Post #245. He was an avid golfer, IU Basketball and Cardinals Baseball fan. He worked in shipping and receiving at Berry Plastics, retiring in 2021 with 20 years of service. George enjoyed gardening. He loved his family with tenacity, especially his daughters, and cherished time spent with them.

Family left to cherish the memory of George include: four daughters, who were the light of his life, Jessica Emmons and Ashley Smith, both of Elnora, Magen (Tyler) Melton of Evansville, and Kayla Nail of Crane; seven grandchildren, Corinne (Quinton) Floyd, Hannah Wittmer, Ava Smith, Thatcher Smith, Ria Melton, Alayna Long and Zoey Long; two great-grandchildren, Kelee and Mason Floyd; one sister, Velma Nail; four brothers, Dan Nail of Bicknell, Jim Nail of Linton, Jack (Tammy) Nail of Bloomfield, and Leroy Nail of Odon.

George was preceded in death by: his mother, Violet; his father, James; sister, Mary Archer; brother, John Nail, and one grandson, Dawson Wittmer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Odon VFW Post Auxiliary #9627, 212 E. Elnora St., Odon, IN 47562.

There will be no visitation at George’s request.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Fairview Cemetery in Elnora with Ashley Smith officiating.
