James R. Thompson

James R. Thompson, 95, of Odon, Indiana passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020 at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington.  He was born on August 29, 1924 in Odon to Ralph C. and Flossie (Winklepleck) Thompson. He married the love of his life, Marcella June Kendall on March 1, 1947.

James was a member of Odon United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge F & AM #303. James was a farmer and mechanic. He retired from US Gypsum. 

Family left to cherish the memory of James include: two sons, Bill (Kathy) Thompson, James (Ellen) Thompson, both of Odon; seven grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Breeden, Jeremy Thompson, John (Nikki) Thompson, Lori (Rob) Phelps; step-grandchildren, Stacy (Joey) Hollis, Jason (Jessica) Guy and Andrea Hollis; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

James was preceded in death by: his wife, Marcella June Thompson; his parents; one daughter, Marilyn Sue Mitchell; granddaughter, Jada Taylor and sister, Mary Ledgerwood.

There will be a private, family graveside service on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating.

There will be a Masonic Service and celebration of life at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ketcham Nursing Center or Odon United Methodist Church.
