Joe A. Pershing, 81, of Elnora, Indiana, passed away with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He was born on June 18, 1941 in Washington, Indiana to Russell Vern and Achie D. (Blagrave) Pershing.
Joe was a US Army veteran. He was a member of the Odon Christian Church, White River Valley Antique Association, Elnora American Legion Post #245, Indiana Auctioneer Association, NRA, Elnora Masonic Lodge #616 and Odon VFW Post #9627. Joe retired in 1990 from Crane where he was a Car Blocker Material Handler.
Family left to cherish the memory of Joe include: one daughter, Deanna (Jim) Hanna; grandchildren, Jessica Lane, Russell Pershing, Tara (Aaron) Steffey and Addison Jolliff; three great-grandchildren; great-grandson, Kai is on the way; special friend of 20 ½ years, Bobbie Flynn; extended children, Boo (Robbyn) Saucerman and Mike (Leslie) Saucerman; extended grandchildren, Brittany (Jeff) Sherman, Andrea (Tyler) Lashley, Hannah Saucerman, Jordan Saucerman, Dakota Saucerman, Jacob Saucerman, Brook (Sage) Harbstreit, Mikayla (Chris) Blevins and Lucas Saucerman and eighteen extended great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by: his parents; one daughter, Robin Zaidi; one son, Jeffrey Joe Pershing; brother, James Pershing; sisters, Virginia Melton, Bonnie Stuffle, Tabitha Pershing, Sue Collins and Eva Dee Horning.
Funeral services to honor the life of Joe will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Joe will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Elnora following military graveside rites by the Odon VFW Post #9627. A Masonic memorial service will be at 1:45 PM on Tuesday.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
