John W. Archer

John William Archer, 92, of Odon, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 with his wife by his side, at The Gardens of Ketcham in Odon. He was born on November 28, 1928 in Vincennes to George and Dolly (Vanpatten) Archer. John married his loving wife, Brenda M. (Burnett) Archer on October 13, 1984.

John was a WWII, US Army Veteran and a member of the Shiloh Church of God. He was an electrical lineman until his retirement in 1984.

Family left to cherish the memory of John include: his wife, Brenda M. Archer; his sons, Glenn (Cindy) Archer of Bicknell, George (Rita) Archer of Odon, Kevin (Rochelle) Archer of Odon, Charlie Archer of Oaktown and Steve (Sherry) Archer of Vincennes; his daughters, Jonnie (William) Teston of Georgia and Karen Johnson of Vincennes; Brenda’s sons, Christopher (Tola) Allen of Odon and Derrik Andrew Archer of Vincennes; Brenda’s daughter, Wendy Michelle (Justin) Wilson of Vermont; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Harley Archer and one sister, Lucille Boyall.

John was preceded in death by: his parents; two daughters, Karen Boes and Kathy Cliver; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his brothers, Paul, Harvey, John and Buck Archer; sisters, Selma Faith and Thelma Carter; half-brother, Ralph Archer and half-sister, Georgie Frost Black.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Steven Sims officiating. John will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon followed by military honors by the Odon VFW Post #9627.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 11 at the funeral home.

In compliance with state regulations, social distancing and face masks are required by all attending.
