L. R. Van Spry

L.R. Van Spry, 76, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Daviess Community Hospital in Washington. Van was born on April 7, 1944 in Carthage, Missouri to Charles M. and Juanita (Wright) Spry, he was the last of their twelve children to survive. Van married the love of his life Joy Lee (Buterbaugh) Spry on August 5, 1964.

Van retired in 1995 as a Chief Engineer at Atlantic Richfield Company and then he attended Louisville Bible College to become a minister. Van was also a semi-pro baseball player at one time. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Van loved the Cubs.

Family left to cherish the memory of Van include: his wife, Joy Spry; one son, Stephen (Carol) Clemons; two daughters, Gayla (Pat) Deisher and April (Scott) Warnhoff; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Van was preceded in death by his parents and one child in infancy.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon with Dan K. Graber, assisted by Richard Smith officiating. Friends may visit from 9:30 AM to time of service at 10:00 AM at the graveside.

Following CDC guidelines, face masks will be required and continue with social distancing please.
