Melissa A. (McGowan) Sheetz

Melissa A. McGowan Sheetz, 44, of Oaktown, Indiana, passed from this life, on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on May 27, 1976 in Rushville, Illinois to Donald E. and Dorothy A. (Burton) McGowan. Melissa married Christopher L. Sheetz on October 10, 2020.

Melissa was a member of the Edwardsport United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker, wife and mother. Melissa really enjoyed her animals, crafting, fishing and she especially enjoyed quality time spent with her family.

Family left to cherish the memory of Melissa include: her husband, Chris Sheetz; three daughters, Hannah and Emily Lerch and Abigail Armstrong, at home; her father, Donald E. McGowan of Bowen, IL; three brothers, Donald (Phoebe) McGowan of Phymouth, IL, William (Beth) McGowan of Princeton and Joey McGowan (Partner, Shannon) of Phymouth, IL and one sister, Sara McGowan (Fiance’ Jason Ward) of Bowen, IL.

Melissa was preceded in death by: her mother, Dorothy McGowan and her infant babies, Holly Noel Lerch and Joshua Benton Lerch.

Funeral services will be at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Odon United Methodist Church with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Melissa will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM on Tuesday at the church.

In compliance with state regulations, social distancing and face masks are required by all attending.
