Nina Jean (Barker) DeVine

Nina Jean DeVine, 86, of Odon, passed away with loving family by her side, on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. She was born on April 6, 1936, in DeKalb, Illinois to John Henry Barker, Sr. and Nina Murle (Carpenter). Jean married the love of her life, Joe DeVine on August 18, 1957.

Jean was a member of the Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church and lived in Daviess County most of her life. She was a Budget Analyst at Crane Naval Base, retiring with 26 years of service. Jean also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Family left to cherish the memories of Jean include daughters, Janet (Bud) Riggins of Elnora; Julia (Michael) Holt of Franklin, IN; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brother John Henry Barker ‘Jr.’ and sister, Joyce Pergal of Chesterton, IN.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Joe DeVine; son, John Francis DeVine and her brother, Steve Barker.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Mt. Nebo Church in Newberry, IN with Pastor Nathan Brooks officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 21, at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon and continue visitation at Mt. Nebo Church at 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 22.
